Mustard-Grilled Burger

Ingredients:
For the Burger:
- 1 lb. Ground Beef (80/20 is best for this recipe)
- Olive Oil
- Salt and Pepper
- Mustard
- Butter
- White Onion, chopped
- Cheddar Cheese, sliced
- Large Tomato, sliced
- Iceberg Lettuce
- Hamburger Bun
For the Sauce:
1/2 C. mayonnaise
3 Tbsp. ketchup
1 tsp. yellow mustard
1 tsp white vinegar
2 1/2 tbsp. sweet pickle relish
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- Combine all of the sauce ingredients into a medium-sized bowl. mix well and refrigerate until needed.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once melted, add onions and saute until caramelized and translucent. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Place the buns on the preheated pan for 2 minutes to toast them and then set them aside while you prepare the beef.
- Make 4 equal-sized (approx. 1/4 lb.) balls and shape the hamburger patty from the ground beef. Patties should be thin. Season with salt and pepper.
- Drizzle the oil in the large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add one burger to the pan and top with 1 tbsp of mustard on the raw side. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Flip patty. Do not smash! Add another 1 tbsp on the top of the burger.
- Cook for another 2 minutes or until the juices start to rise to the top of the burger.
- Add cheddar cheese slice and cook for 1 minute or until cheese is melted.
- Repeat steps 6-9 until all burgers have been cooked.
- Assemble your burger with toasted buns. Spread the sauce on top and bottom of the bun. Top with patty, lettuce, tomato, and sauteed onions. Add the top of the bun.
- Serve and enjoy!
